About Me

Hi there, I’m Edu, nice to meet you, and welcome to my blog!

I created edumoix.com to paint a better picture of my passion for triathlon and have you, my family, friends, and new-found friends in on my journey throughout my training, races, successes/failures, challenges and anecdotes.

I was born and raised in Lleida, Catalunya in Spain – son of amazing parents and a brother of two beautiful sisters. :)

Sports has always been a part of me since I was very little, or should I say; culturally, it plays a big role growing up in a country who lives and breathes Sports. I am an avid football fan and an amateur player; I guess just like how all Spaniards are (a.k.a World Champions)!

As a teenager, I coached little kids as a football instructor, played in some football teams and worked as a lifeguard at the swimming complex of my home town to earn a few bucks during summer.

In 2008, immediately after finishing my Architectural Degree in Barcelona, I moved to London for work. I love the city mainly highlighted by its beautiful parks that were good for running and playing sports.

My sports life in London was reduced to a couple of soccer matches in Battersea park with the Argentinian crowd (who never passed me the ball!), and a occasional running where I would end up with an almost broken ankle just after 3 steps (literally!).  Going to the pub and watching rugby was more like, “the sports life” back there, and I guess that’s where my British sports career ended!

After spending some months in the UK, badly hit by the economic crash, I decided to move to Singapore in 2009.   It was here where I became more active.  I joined the Spanish futsal team and I became a part of a Spanish dragonboat team.  Later, pushed by my girlfriend Jehanna and a couple of more friends, Juan and Xavi, who were running a 10k race, I signed up for the Yellow Ribbon 5 km run.

That was what I call “the point of no return”. I was officially hooked to running and triathlons – an authentic adrenalin and self-improvement addiction for me!  Since then, my life has totally evolved into a healthy and sports-oriented direction.

Currently I’m training for my third 70.3 Ironman. Training sessions and work, takes most of my time during the week. I keep the weekends for some social-life and personal time.

As I mentioned earlier, the main motivation to create this blog is to keep you guys on the loop on parts and pieces of my life and my passion.  Through this blog, I also aim to motivate my friends who are not as into sports as I am or those who haven’t really thought of making the healthy choice into their current lifestyles.

Ultimately, it is also my goal to create a better meaning out of what I do in these races by building awareness for the different charities who can benefit from my athletic journey. Please take a look at the Charity page of my blog. Your help is more than welcome.

Hope you enjoy the journey with me and thanks for dropping by! :)
